Perforated sheets are also known as perforated metal, perforated screen, and stamping plates. These are manufactured through stainless steel via metal stamping. The sheets thus constructed control the passage of light, solids, liquid, air, heat, sound and electromagnetic waves. However, the manufacturing process of the perforated sheets differs as per the purpose. The production method is also chosen as per the gauge and width of raw metals.
The manufacturing process of SS perforated sheets begins with the plain sheet which is fed to a machine to perforate the metal. The machine punches holes in the metal which is then cooled with lubricating oil. The oil is used to reduce friction between metals. The continuous movement of perforating punches creates holes in the metal during operation. The shape and size of the holes are determined by the perforating tools. First, a line of holes is created with each strike using the tool across the metal. The number of lines of holes created depends on the tool used for creating punches.
